“Hi my name is Ella, I am from Myanmar. I am studying at NIM postgraduate Diploma in Tourism and Hospitalty Management. 3 years ago, i became interested in management, So I began searching for schools and consulted with the local education agent. That is where I found NIM. After looking it up on Google, I saw that NIM is very famous for its Hospitality and Tourism courses. That is why I choose it.

When I started, the intake was limited to Home based learning due to Covid. We learnt via zoom which felt quite different from other online classes. Our teacher were very attentive in each course, teaching us with their professional skills. This experience is an unforgettable moment for me. I wanted to acquire skills, experience and knowledge in Singapore, and then bring them back to my country, to share everything with my community. That is my goal.

During my internship at Sushi Express, I gained alot of experience and knowledge. I learnt how to manage the entire outlet, for example, day in day out of operating a restuarant, using the POS system and ordering from suppliers. I also addressed customer complaints and learnt how to handle different languages. After that I worked towards bigger goals, such as acheievng the sales target. I want to tell students who are interested that everyone has a chance. NIM provides an opportunity for our future. It taught me a great deal about how to focus both physically and mentally in our daily lives. We need to strive to improve and better our futures. I am also still trying. Never give up and all the best!”
