Nanyang Institute of Management Breaks Singapore’s Book of Record with Largest Fingerprint National Flag!
In a vibrant show of unity, identity, and national pride, Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) has set out to achieve an ambitious feat to break the record for the largest national flag made entirely of fingerprints—marking a meaningful tribute to Singapore’s SG60 celebration.
The symbolic first prints were placed by NIM President, Dr. Zhang Xuwei, along with our esteemed event sponsor, Dr. Sujata Tiwari, NIM Mentor-In-Residence and Founder of Against All Odds Pte.Ltd. Their fingerprints marked the official commencement of the event, setting the tone for a powerful expression of community and shared heritage.
Held at NIM’s Foyer at Level 1, the initiative saw students queuing up eagerly to contribute their mark on the flag. Each fingerprint, dipped in vibrant red or white, symbolised a commitment to unity, respect, and the Singapore spirit of multiculturalism.
The fingerprint flag, once completed, will form the full-scale Singapore national flag—red above white, with a crescent moon and five stars carefully composed using hundreds, possibly thousands, of students’ and staff’s fingerprints.
The atmosphere was eclectic, as students and staff eagerly waited for their turn.
The completed flag will not only be a visual spectacle but also an entry into the Singapore Book of Records—a proud milestone for both NIM and everyone who took part. Once the flag was completed and approved by the judge, a commemorative plaque was unveiled by Dr. Zhang to honour Dr. Sujata Tiwari’s unwavering belief in youth education and her impactful collaboration with NIM.
As the flag steadily fills with thumbprints, one thing is clear: at NIM, every fingerprint counts, and every student’s story adds colour to Singapore’s future.
