Welcoming New Students: Nanyang Institute of Management's
Orientation Day
Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) welcomed a fresh cohort of students with a vibrant and engaging Orientation Day. This event marked the official start of their academic journey at NIM and was designed to ensure that every student felt welcomed, informed, and ready to embark on this exciting new chapter.
The day began with a warm welcome speech from Mr Raymond Khoo, Dean of School of Tourism and Hospitality, who emphasized the importance of embracing the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. This was followed by a brief yet insightful introduction to NIM’s mission, values, and the unique learning environment that our institute offers.
One of the highlights of the event was the Student Excellence Awards ceremony, presented by our Vice President, Mr Craig Albrightson, where we proudly recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of our students from various programmes. This was a moment of pride and inspiration, showcasing the high standards and accomplishments that students can aspire to during their time at NIM.
Following the awards, students received a comprehensive briefing from the Student Services and Student Council. This session provided crucial information on the range of support services available, from academic assistance to extracurricular activities, ensuring that every student knows how to make the most of their time at NIM.
To foster a sense of community and help students get to know each other, a series of interactive and fun games were organized. The Memory Game was a great ice-breaker, allowing students to learn each other’s names in a playful way. The Guessing Game brought plenty of laughter as students tried to act out words or actions displayed on a cardboard, while the Battlefield game added an element of competition, with students enthusiastically grabbing bottles to win the game.
The Orientation Day concluded with a lively prize-giving ceremony, rewarding the winners of the games for their participation and enthusiasm. The event wrapped up with a group photo-taking session, capturing the smiles, laughter, and new friendships that had blossomed throughout the day.
Overall, NIM’s Orientation Day was a resounding success, providing new students with a memorable and positive start to their academic journey. We look forward to seeing how they will grow, learn, and contribute to the vibrant community here at NIM.
