UWS MBA Student’s Immersive Voyage to the Titanic

In a learning journey that went far beyond textbooks and case studies, students from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS MBA) programme at Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) embarked on an unforgettable visit to Titanic: An Immersive Voyage.

Stepping into the exhibition was like stepping back in time into the opulent decks of the ship, recreated through lifelike room recreations of the legendary ship, 360° projections, authentic artefacts, and a powerful VR encounter that placed students face-to-face with the fateful iceberg.

Weeks of preparation went into crafting this experience — from storyboarding and filmmaking to prop design, editing, and event setup. The Student Council poured their hearts into every eerie detail, turning the school into a festive haunt of fun and mystery.

Yet, beyond the spectacle, this journey carried deeper lessons on leadership, decision-making, and human values under pressure.

  • Objectivity: The exhibition encouraged students to observe the unfolding events of the Titanic’s voyage without bias and consider decisions in their historical context.
  • Perseverance: Despite the tragic outcome, the story reminded viewers of the perseverance of the crew, passengers and designers in striving for safety and excellence.
  • Ambition: The Titanic’s design embodied ambition at its greatest scale, and brought up discussions of our own aspirations in business leadership.
  • Learning from the trip: This excursion reinforced that immersive, multi-sensory experiences can deepen understanding and spark fresh insights in the MBA journey.
