27 December 2025 — Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) proudly sponsored the launch of SG60: Shining Singapore, a commemorative publication marking Singapore’s 60th year of independence through 60 inspiring real-life stories of new immigrants who have contributed to the nation’s growth and multicultural fabric.

Speaking at the launch, President Zhang Xuwei expressed his honour in being part of the meaningful occasion and reaffirmed Nanyang Institute of Management’s (NIM) commitment to supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, integration, and shared progress. President Zhang also shared that he was honoured to have participated in the publication as a member of the Editorial Committee.

“On behalf of Nanyang Institute of Management, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on the successful launch of this publication, and to express my sincere respect to the planner, Dr Wu Wei, the Editor-in-Chief, Ms Long Nini, and all those who have dedicated their efforts and passion to the creation of this book,” President Zhang said.

“This year marks an important milestone for Singapore as it celebrates 60 years of nationhood,” he added. “SG60: Shining Singapore is more than a book — it is a bridge connecting past and present, homeland and new beginnings, and individual aspirations with the broader development of society. It vividly reflects Singapore’s spirit of inclusiveness and its ability to bring people of diverse backgrounds together.”

President Zhang shared that although he has been in Singapore for only a few years, he has already deeply experienced the country’s social harmony and openness. He noted that Singapore’s success lies in its respect for diversity, its ability to foster mutual understanding, and its emphasis on contribution regardless of background.

“The stories featured in this book are powerful reminders that integration and contribution go hand in hand,” he said. “They represent the lived experiences of individuals who have chosen to grow with Singapore and give back to the society they now call home.”

Since its establishment, Nanyang Institute of Management has placed multiculturalism and internationalisation at the heart of its educational philosophy. President Zhang highlighted that education plays a vital role in building understanding, encouraging dialogue, and nurturing globally minded individuals who can thrive across cultures.

“Our decision to support SG60: Shining Singapore reflects NIM’s belief that education extends beyond the classroom,” he said. “It is also about cultivating respect, empathy, and meaningful connections across communities. We are proud that NIM can be part of this important cultural initiative.”

As an education institution serving students from Singapore, China, and around the world, NIM remains committed to providing quality education and to acting as a bridge that connects learners to global opportunities and perspectives.

President Zhang concluded by expressing his hope that the book will continue to inspire reflection, foster connection, and encourage collaboration, while strengthening cultural exchange and friendship between Singapore, China, and the wider international community.
