NIM Career Services Prepares Students for Industrial Attachment
Preparing for an internship is an important step towards gaining real-world experience and building confidence for the workplace. To help students get ready for their upcoming industrial attachment placements, NIM Career Services organized an Industrial placement process, including Training Work Permit (TWP) / Training Employment Pass (TEP) process and key considerations they should be aware of before starting their industrial attachment.
The briefing was conducted by Ms.Thong, Dean for School of Engineering and School of Arts, Science & Technology, and Director of the Career Service Centre, who introduced students to the internship placement process, with Mr. Ehsan guiding students through the briefing and sharing practical tips to help them prepare for their upcoming placements.
A key part of the session focused on preparing students for interviews. Students were reminded that making a positive first impression goes beyond simply answering questions well. Ehsan shared practical tips on professional appearance, body language, communication and interview etiquette.
Students were guided on important interview do’s and don’ts, such as maintaining good eye contact, sitting with confident and professional posture, listen attentively to questions, speaking clearly and showing enthusiasm for the opportunity.
These small details can make a difference in helping students present themselves confidently and professionally to potential employers.
To further support students in their preparation, NIM Career Services will be conducting individual mock interviews with students. These one-to-one sessions will allow students to practise answering interview questions, receive personalized feedback and identify areas they can improve before attending an actual interview.
Through this hands-on preparation, students can build greater confidence and become more familiar with the expectations of employers.
The Industrial Attachment Placement Briefing is part of NIM’s ongoing efforts to equip students with the knowledge, confidence and professional skills they need to take their first steps into the workplace.
