Meet, Learn, Thrive: What Happened at NIM Orientation Day
Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) hosted a warm, well-structured orientation programme for incoming students at the Bedok Room (L3C5), Level 3. The orientation aimed to provide students with the resources, guidance, and inspiration needed to begin their academic journey with confidence and clarity.
A welcome speech officially opened by Mr.Craig Albrightson, NIM Vice President, & Dr.Johnson Teo, NIM Assistant Vice President, setting the tone for the afternoon. They highlighted NIM’s commitment to academic excellence, student development, and global engagement.
Ms. Qurratu, Student Services Executives, provided an informative briefing on available resources, including counselling, academic support, and student life activities. This was followed by a Career Talk session led by the Career Service Centre’s Director, Ms.Thong, which detailed the career readiness initiatives, industry engagement programmes, and internship support available to students throughout their studies in NIM.
Ms. Nisa, Dean of School of Language, also took a moment to remind students about our complimentary English class, held exclusively for NIM students, every Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM—a great opportunity to sharpen their language skills and boost academic confidence.
University Partner Engagement
One of the key highlights of the orientation was the virtual session with Dr. Lorna Thomas, Director of Partnerships at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). This engaging segment offered students a valuable opportunity to connect with NIM’s esteemed UK partner university, gain deeper insights into CCCU, and ask questions about academic expectations and the global learning experience available through the collaboration. This ensures our students are in good hands.
The orientation served as an important first step in each student’s journey at NIM. With the support of a dedicated team and a structured programme, students are now better equipped to embark on their studies and make the most of their time at the institute.
