Jumpstart Disruptive Innovations (JDI) Career Talk: Inspiring Students to Think Like Investors

Today, our students gathered in anticipation of a transformative career talk led by renowned entrepreneur and venture capitalist from Jumpstart Disruptive Innovations (JDI), Frank Lee. With his extensive experience in the investment industry. Frank was invited by the Director of Career Services/Assistant Dean from the School of Engineering, Ms.Thong to share his insights on how students can raise funds from venture capitalists and cultivate an investor mindset.

Frank explained the world of venture capital in simple terms, breaking down the process of attracting investment. He outlined key components that investors should focus on when pitching their ideas, stressing the importance of students on articulating what sets their ideas apart, market research, and identifying a strong business model in order to jumpstart into venture capitalism. Throughout his talk, Frank interspersed practical insights with anecdotes from his career, illustrating the highs and lows of investing as well as solutions that had benefited from his own practical insights and real-world experiences.

The event culminated in an engaging Q&A session, where students posed questions. Lee’s thoughtful responses and willingness to share his knowledge left a lasting impact on the audience.
