Exclusive Workshop for our School of Tourism & Hospitality Students

Today, the School of Tourism & Hospitality had the privilege of hosting Mr. John Daly, the Academic Director APAC from Swiss Education Group, for an exclusive workshop aimed at equipping our students with essential team management skills. Over the course of two and a half hours, students delved into the intricacies of effective team leadership and the importance of differentiation in the competitive landscape.

Mr. Daly’s session emphasized the significance of fostering a cohesive team dynamic centered around shared goals and values. Students engaged in discussions on various aspects of team management, including understanding key performance indicators, setting targets, and selling unique selling propositions. A critical takeaway highlighted was the necessity for companies to distinguish themselves from competitors, a factor often overlooked in the business world.

During the workshop, students had the opportunity to apply their newfound knowledge by proposing business ideas, particularly in the F&B and hospitality sectors. These proposals showcased innovative approaches to entrepreneurship, such as patenting products and prioritizing customer-centric services. Students emphasized the importance of multilingualism, effective customer handling, and creating seamless dining experiences through interactive sessions.

Dr. Zhang Xuwei, our esteemed President, also extended a warm welcome to Mr. Daly and expressing appreciation for his invaluable insights. Dr. Zhang also presented a token of gratitude to Mr. Daly for his contribution to our students’ learning journey.

As the workshop concluded, students left with a deeper understanding of team management principles and a renewed sense of enthusiasm for applying these skills in their future endeavors. The event served as a testament to our commitment to providing students with holistic educational experiences that prepare them for success in the dynamic hospitality industry.
