CNY at NIM: Louhei, Games, and the God of Wealth!

Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) buzzed with excitement as students and staff gathered to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY). The event was a delightful mix of traditional customs and modern games, creating a lively atmosphere that brought everyone together.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the exciting lineup of games. Students enthusiastically participated in the Imposter Game, and Matching Zodiac Cards. Laughter and friendly banter filled the room as players tried to outwit each other while adding a competitive edge to the festivity.

The celebration continued with the much-anticipated Louhei ceremony, a beloved CNY tradition symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. Students and staff gathered around a large platter of colorful ingredients, each representing blessings for the new year. With chopsticks in hand, everyone enthusiastically tossed the yusheng salad high into the air, shouting well-wishes as ingredients flew everywhere.

Adding a touch of tradition to the event, one of NIM’s student council leader dressed up as the God of Wealth, an iconic figure believed to bring prosperity and good fortune. The costume was a hit, with many attendees taking photos and sharing laughs with the cheerful “deity.”

From the engaging games to the festive spirit, the day was a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, leaving everyone excited and blessed for the year to come.
