The students from School of Engineering (SENG), had the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications with a recent field trip to the Singapore City Gallery at the URA Centre. This trip gave students a unique opportunity to witness the intricate processes of urban planning and development—an essential aspect of engineering.

Led by engineering lecturers, Mr.Jayson and Ms.Tan,the visit allowed students to explore Singapore’s transformation through interactive exhibits and detailed city models. The gallery showcased the nation’s evolution into a global leader in sustainability and innovation, emphasizing the vital role engineers play in shaping modern cities.
Throughout the tour, the lecturers provided insights into Singapore’s urban challenges and the strategies implemented to overcome them. Personal experiences were also shared amongst each other from witnessing the city’s development firsthand, making the learning experience even more engaging.

Beyond observing, students actively reflected on their visit, discussing key takeaways in class and envisioning the future of engineering. The experience reinforced their passion for the field and deepened their understanding of sustainable urban development.
The School of Engineering remains committed to inspiring the next generation of engineers—nurturing not only skilled professionals but also visionary leaders ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges with innovative solutions.
