Bridging Cultures Through Learning: NIM Hosts Cultural Exchange with Capital Normal University

Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) proudly hosted a cultural exchange event with Capital Normal University, deepening the bonds of academic collaboration and mutual understanding between Singapore and China.

Dr. Zhang Xuwei, President of NIM; Mr. Craig Albrightson, NIM Vice President; Mr. James Zhang, General Manager of NIM; along with Ms. Thong Sue-Yen, School of Engineering Assistant Dean & Director of Career Service Centre,  who graciously hosted and extended a warm welcome to the visiting students and faculty from Capital Normal University. The atmosphere showed excitement, unity, and curiosity as participants looked forward to an engaging afternoon.

A speech by Dr. Zhang highlighted the importance of international partnerships in today’s global learning landscape internationally and in Singapore. The President emphasised how such exchanges, especially in Singapore, allowed students to broaden their perspectives, learn from diverse traditions, and build relationships that extend beyond borders.

The audience then heard from Mr. Song Jun, Vice President of Capital Normal University, and distinguished guests, who spoke passionately about cultural preservation, educational cooperation, and the spirit of openness that drives meaningful exchange. Their insights added depth and context to the day’s activities.

These hands-on experiences brought cultural heritage to life, fostering appreciation and respect across backgrounds.

An interactive discussion session allowed students to engage in open dialogue, sharing thoughts on education, identity, and global citizenship. It was a chance for both sides to learn not just from experts, but from each other.
