Course Objective

This MA Education programme is designed for those who are interested and passionate about education. Whether you are in a professional role looking to progress in your career or you are wanting to embark onto doctoral study, this MA Education degree offers a dynamic and progressive curriculum that will enhance your critical awareness and deepen your understanding. You will engage with theories about learning for both children and adults, which you will then critically reflect upon as an educator, leader, or stakeholder. Critical thinking, research, and evidence-informed practice are embedded throughout the curriculum to enhance your critical awareness of the subject. You will also undertake self-reflection as this degree challenges you to reflect and review values and philosophies of education and learning as you draw upon your own practice throughout your study. This key element of this MA Education degree will allow you to progress as an educator as you engage with innovative research and multiple perspectives.

DELIVERY ASSESSMENTS & AWARDS

Delivery
This course is wholly delivered in Singapore. Students will have access to local lecturers and resources provided by Canterbury Christ Church University. There will be a combination of lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and presentations. Students may also be given additional work to complete outside of scheduled classes. Resources and materials provided for students will include lecture notes and references for further reading in books, publication, articles and websites.
Assessment

May include individual report, reflective assignment/log, presentation, individual assignment, group presentation, group discussion, portfolio, class test, examination, case study, and/or group project.

Award
Upon passing all required modules, a student will be awarded a Masters of Arts in Education. The degree awarded will be the same as that awarded to on-campus students of the university.

Note: The course has not been accredited by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), the effect of which is that the course will not be recognised as a professional qualification required for the registration of pre-school teachers in Singapore. This condition will be in effect until such time that the PEI provides evidence to SSG that the course has been officially accredited by ECDA.

Qualifications
  • Applicants should be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • If English is not your first language you require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5 for most standard undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • A good undergraduate degree (2:2 or above) and two supporting academic/professional references.
