School of Engineering (SENG) Explores Marina Barrage
Students from the School of Engineering’s Postgraduate Diploma In Engineering Management (PGDEM) Programme visited Marina Barrage to gain firsthand insights into Singapore’s approach to water management, flood control and sustainable urban development.
The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore how engineering, project management and environmental considerations are integrated into the planning and operation of major national infrastructure projects. By observing the infrastructure and learning about its role in Singapore’s water resilience, students were able to connect concepts from their studies with real-world applications.
Through the visit, students gained a deeper appreciation of the complexities involved in managing large-scale engineering projects, particularly the need to balance technical requirements with long-term social and environmental considerations.
The experience offered valuable practical perspectives to students on how engineering and project management contribute to Singapore’s continued development and sustainability.
