NIM Hosts 13-Day Learning and Cultural Exchange Programme at NIM
Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) welcomed a delegation of educators from Xianyang Normal University for a 13-day advanced professional development programme in Singapore.
The programme provided the visiting educators with an opportunity to gain insights into Singapore’s education landscape, governance, innovation and student development, while experiencing the city-state’s distinctive multicultural environment and way of life.
The visit commenced with an opening ceremony by Dr. Zhang Xuwei, NIM President, and programme briefing by Professor Xiao, NIM Professor, as the begin their learning journey at NIM
Through this hands-on preparation, students can build greater confidence and become more familiar with the expectations of employers.
The Industrial Attachment Placement Briefing is part of NIM’s ongoing efforts to equip students with the knowledge, confidence and professional skills they need to take their first steps into the workplace.
Exploring Singapore’s Education and Innovation Landscape
The programme also incorporated educational visits and exchanges that enabled the delegation to observe different aspects of Singapore’s education and innovation ecosystem. The experiences complemented the classroom sessions and encouraged participants to reflect on education development, and advanced technology.
Immersing in Singaporean Culture
Beyond professional learning, the 13-day programme gave the Xianyang Normal University educators the opportunity to experience Singaporean culture and explore the country’s diverse heritage.
The delegation visited various cultural and historical sites, gaining a closer understanding of Singapore’s development, multicultural identity and heritage. Their itinerary included visits around Central Singapore, where they explored Singapore’s multicultural communities and traditions.
The educators also explored Singapore’s approach to urban planning, public housing, community development and sustainable city development, providing them with a broader perspective on how Singapore has developed into a highly connected and multicultural city.
Alongside the academic programme, the delegation had opportunities to enjoy Singapore’s local cuisine and cultural experiences throughout their stay, making the visit not only a professional learning journey but also an immersive introduction to Singaporean society and everyday life.
Building Connections Through Exchange
The programme also created opportunities for meaningful dialogue and exchange between the visiting educators and members of Singapore’s education community. Discussions explored topics including education reform, the impact of artificial intelligence on education, talent development and internationalisation.
The programme concluded at NIM with group presentations, personal reflections, course sharing, and a closing ceremony bringing together the key learning experiences and insights gained throughout the 13-day programme.
