School of Tourism & Hospitality Visits Paradox Hotel

The School of Hospitality & Tourism (SOTH) organised another field visit to Paradox Hotel Singapore, giving our Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management (DHTM) and Advanced Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management (ADTHM) students a first-hand look at the facilities and services within a hotel in Singapore.

Located near Nanyang Institute of Managemen (NIM), the hotel provided an accessible and practical learning environment for students taking the Introduction to Tourism & Hospitality module.

Hosted by Mr Kharudin Sukaimi, Deputy Director of Operations at Paradox Hotel, and Mr Nelson Choo, Front Office Manager, the students were introduced to various aspects of hotel operations, including Front Office and Lobby Operations, different guest room categories and suites, Food & Beverage concepts and outlets, as well as MICE facilities.

Prior to the experience, students also caught a sneak peek of a rehearsal for Dick Lee’s upcoming rerun of Fried Rice Paradise The Musical. The unexpected glimpse into the production taking place at the hotel was a memorable highlight of the visit and offered students an additional perspective on how hotels can support entertainment and events. 

Overall, the field visit gave an eye-opening experience to the students, allowing them to connect deeper on classroom learning and real-world hospitality operations and gain a deeper appreciation of the diverse career opportunities within the industry.

The delegation visited various cultural and historical sites, gaining a closer understanding of Singapore’s development, multicultural identity and heritage. Their itinerary included visits around Central Singapore, where they explored Singapore’s multicultural communities and traditions.

The visit by Xianyang Normal University reflects NIM’s commitment to facilitating meaningful international educational exchange and providing opportunities for educators to learn, connect and experience Singapore beyond the classroom.
