SOTH Students Explore Hospitality Excellence at One Farrer Hotel, Singapore

Students from the School of Tourism and Hospitality (SOTH) embarked on an enriching industry visit to One Farrer Hotel, one of Singapore’s leading lifestyle retreat hotel-resorts, to gain valuable firsthand experience in the hospitality sector. 

Located in the vibrant heritage district of Little India, One Farrer Hotel is renowned for it’s innovative approach to hospitality and it’s unique blend of luxury, sustainability, wellness, and art. 

During the visit, students were given a comprehensive tour of the hotel’s facilities, allowing them to experience the various aspects of hotel operations and guest services firsthand. The hotel team also provided an insightful introduction to the diverse services, facilities, and sustainable practices available within the hospitality industry. Through these sharing sessions, students gained a deeper understanding of industry expectations, operational excellence, and the evolving trends shaping modern hospitality.

One of the highlights for the visit was learning about One Farrer Hotel’s sustainability initiatives, including its fully operational urban farm, which reflects the hotel’s commitment to responsible hospitality practices. Students were able to appreciate how sustainability is increasingly becoming an integral part of guest experiences and hotel management.

The educational visit concluded with a special award presentation ceremony in appreciation of the hotel’s support and hospitality. The award was presented to Mr. Gilbert Madhavan, General Manager, and Mr. Fariz Hakim, Front Office & Sustainability Manager, in recognition of his valuable contributions and efforts in providing students with an engaging and meaningful learning experience.
