Celebrating International Friendship Day at NIM:
A World of Cultures in One Campus

Why travel the world to experience different cultures when we have it all right here at the heart of NIM?

In celebration of International Friendship Day, our campus came alive with vibrant cultures, heartfelt stories, and shared traditions from around the globe. Organised successfully by our Student Council, the event was yet another testament to the strong sense of community and diversity that defines NIM. Kudos to the team for putting together such a meaningful and engaging celebration.

A Cultural Exchange Like No Other

One of the key highlights of the celebration was a student-led cultural sharing session, where students took the stage to present festivals and traditions from their home countries.

From Vietnam, Ari introduced Tet, the Vietnamese New Year—a celebration centred around family reunions, meaningful traditions, and new beginnings.

Elizabeth, who represented Thailand, introduced Songkran, Thailand’s traditional New Year celebration, known for its joyful water splashing alongside meaningful practices such as temple visits and showing respect to elders.

Win Pyae Sone Oo from Myanmar spoke about Thingyan, the Burmese New Year Water Festival, highlighting its deeper meaning of renewal, respect, and giving back to the community.

Bruce from China shared insights on Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, a time for family reunions, traditions, and welcoming prosperity in the new year.

Following the insightful sharing sessions, the celebration continued with lively cultural performances that brought energy and excitement to the atmosphere. Students also gathered for group photos, capturing moments of joy and connection to commemorate this meaningful occasion

Beyond the festivities, the event served as a powerful reminder of the diversity that defines NIM. It provided a platform for students to connect, learn from one another, and build friendships that transcend borders.

At NIM, diversity is not just embraced—it is experienced daily through our vibrant student community.

Building a Global Community

Events like these reinforce NIM’s commitment to fostering a truly international learning environment. By bringing cultures together under one roof, students gain not only academic knowledge but also global perspectives and lifelong connections.

As we continue to celebrate diversity and inclusivity, we look forward to creating even more meaningful experiences for our students.
