Highlights from March 2026 Orientation

Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) warmly welcomed a new intake of students to their first official life on campus. The programme created a mix of informative sessions and engaging activities for students designed to help them settle in.

The event began with an opening address by Mr. Craig Albrightson, Vice President of NIM, who encouraged students to start their studies with curiosity, confidence, and a sense of purpose.

Following this, Dr. Johnson, Assistant Vice President of NIM, spoke about the role of discipline and responsiblity in academic success. He highlighted how staying focused, being attentive in class, and maintaining respectful learning habits can contribute to a productive and supportive learning environment.

Students were then introduced to several key support teams within the institute. Representatives from Student Services, Ms. Qurratu and Ms. Farrina, provided an overview of the support available to students throughout their time at NIM, including guidance on student welfare and campus resources. An operational briefing by Mr. Nathan of the Operations team then followed, who familiarised students with campus facilities, important procedures, and the rules and regulations on student welfare and campus resources.

Ms. Thong, Dean for School of Engineering and the School of Arts, Science & Technology, and Director of the Career Service centre, and Mr. Gavin, Industrial Attachment & Career Development Officer, introduced the range of support available to students, from developing employability skills to planning their career pathways and preparing for future opportunities.

Ms. Leonisa, Dean of the School of Language, also introduced NIM’s English classes, highlighting how these sessions help students strengthen their communication and presentation skills as they progress through their studies.

After the lunch break, the atmosphere shifted to a more relaxed and energetic setting as students took part in a series of team-based games. Activities such as Guess The Word and Ping Pong Challenge, which encouraged collaboration and fostered peer interaction.

Orientation day was more than just an introduction to campus life, it marked the beginning of a new chapter with new friendships, support networks, and a shared sense of belonging within the NIM community.
