Course Objective
This course equips students with essential knowledge and practical skills in early childhood education, focusing on child development, positive communication, and effective pedagogical practices. Students will gain an understanding of how children learn and develop, establish effective teaching skills, and explore key issues and challenges within the early childhood profession. The programme emphasizes diverse educational approaches including child development, safety and nutrition, learning environment design, and stakeholder communication as added assets for working with children and families. Through applied learning, students will develop the ability to make informed decisions in early childhood contexts and to plan, implement, and evaluate stimulating, multicultural curricula and learning environments, while applying strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and the community.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS
Child Development and Classroom Management and Positive Guidance
Understand children's development and behaviour and master practical, culturally responsive strategies for positive guidance and effective classroom management.
Observation, Assessment and Evaluation
Develop essential skills in child observation and authentic assessment to evaluate and support children's learning and development in practice.
Creative Approaches to Caring and Learning of Young Children
Explore creative, play-based approaches to curriculum design, toy selection, and learning environments that inspire and support holistic development in young children.
Safety, Health, Hygiene and Nutrition
Learn to create and maintain safe, healthy, and hygienic environments that promote the well-being of children, staff, and families.
DELIVERY ASSESSMENTS & AWARDS
May include individual report, reflective assignment/log, presentation, individual assignment, group presentation, group discussion, portfolio, class test, examination, case study, and/or group project.
Note: The course has not been accredited by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), the effect of which is that the course will not be recognised as a professional qualification required for the registration of pre-school teachers in Singapore. This condition will be in effect until such time that the PEI provides evidence to SWDA that the course has been officially accredited by ECDA.

- Applicants should be at least 17 years of age at the time of application
- Obtained at least a C6 pass at Cambridge O-level in any one subject, or Obtained at least a D pass at IGCSE in any one subject, or
- For matured candidate who is at least 25 years old with at least 5 years of working experience.
- Obtained at least C6 in English language at Cambridge O-level or IELTS score 5.0 or its equivalent.
- Applicants who do not meet the minimum English Language proficiency requirements are required to sit and pass the NIM English Proficiency Test.
