Advanced Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management

The Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management awarded by NIM aim to focus on the latest trend and development in the hospitality and tourism sector. This course provides students with an in-depth study of the tourism and hospitality industry. It is ideal for individuals who are keen to upgrade their professional competencies and is designed to equip them with managerial knowledge to embrace the challenges of the trade.

Course Objectives

  • To develop in-depth understanding of the roles of human resource professional, management and leadership roles of an effective hospitality leaders.
  • Acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to lead and manage hospitality organization/operations.
  • Gained understanding and awareness of legal, quality and safety issues relating to the management of tourism and hospitality organization.
  • Understanding the management of accounting and financial aspects in the tourism and hospitality industry.
  • Understanding the importance of marketing in the context of tourism and hospitality industry
  • Ability to organize, manage leading to execution of an event.

Course Structure
 

Duration: 16 months + 6 months IA

The average teacher-student ratio is 1 : 30

Maximum period allowed for a student to complete the course is 3 years

NIM shall notify the student within three (3) working days upon knowledge of any of the following:

i.It does not commence the Course on the Course Commencement Date; or
ii.It terminates the Course before the Course Commencement Date.

NIM shall inform the student in writing of alternative study arrangements (if any).
NIM shall refund student according to the Refund Policy in the Standard PEI-Student Contract.
The waiting period for the commencement of course is 2 to 4 months depending on the course applied for.

 
Entry Requirements

• 2 GCE A Level or formal Year-12 education or IB Diploma; OR Polytechnic Diploma in relevant areas of Tourism and Hospitality; OR NIM Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management; OR Certificate or International Certificate in Foundation Studies.
• IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
• Applicants who do not meet the minimum English Language proficiency requirements are required to sit and pass the NIM English Proficiency Test.
• Applicants should be at least 17 years of age at the time of application.

Combination of written assignment, presentation, class tests, and examinations
 
Awards
 
Upon successful completion of all 12 modules, the student will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management by Nanyang Institute of Management.
